Welcome to the Pre-K Four's! Four year olds language skills are very strong by this stage, and they speak in complete sentences while answering questions and expressing themselves. Our staff know the importance of stimulating the child’s interest and asking many open ended questions throughout their learning day. We encourage the children use prepositions like under, over, beside, in, and front when interacting in conversation and within their play.
The children demonstrate cognitive and social and emotional skills like cooperation and problem solving as interact with their peers and teachers. They even begin to form friendships and understand the importance of self help and empathy. Four year olds cognitive development becomes more involved in more complex imaginary play and that’s why it is important to us that we always maintain a well planned lesson with props and materials throughout the classroom. The children strengthen their fine motor and phonic skills as they write daily in the classroom and with the teachers instruction and guidance. The children learn to print some capital letters, write their name and numbers when writing and drawing throughout their day. They also begin to draw a person with two or four body parts. The four year olds begin to understand the math concepts of time like morning, afternoon, and night. Physical skills for them are very active, especially when they begin to stand on one foot for at least five seconds, throw a ball overhand, kick a ball, and catch a bouncing ball most of the time. They even development such strong fine and gross motor skills that they can dress and undress themselves and use scissors effectively. Our staff is continuously finding new techniques to engage the child’s desire to learn and grow stronger and healthier each day. |
