Our Philosophy
New Horizons Preschool, Inc.’s primary goal is to provide quality child care in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. We strive to create an atmosphere that will be relaxed and comfortable with pleasant meaningful conversations throughout the day, encouraged by the use of open ended questions.
We believe that a literacy rich foundation will stimulate developing minds and foster a passion for learning in the years to follow. We will support emergent reading and writing through a variety of ways for children to experience and express themselves throughout the day. We incorporate “STEAM” activities (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) daily, often hosting in house field trips to enhance and complement our lesson planning.
Teachers will use free play and small group times to introduce and reinforce weekly themes, learning concepts, and will listen to children’s ideas when lesson planning. Teachers observe the children in their care’s actions and encourage children to be independent when appropriate. This includes things such as cleaning up, toileting, and hand washing.
Teachers will establish clear and consistent expectations of behavior with the children in their care. We practice positive redirection and positive reinforcement in all of our classrooms. The older classrooms play individualized and group based incentive games that encourage children to make positive, helpful, safe choices.
New Horizons Preschool, Inc. recognizes that parents are the primary influence in their children’s lives. Parents are welcome visitors in our center at any time. We believe in communicating with parents daily, weekly and monthly about all activities that affect their children through multiple platforms. This includes; phone calls, emails (often weekly), our Facebook page, our website, newsletters from the office as well as classrooms, daily sheets, white board messages, individualized child assessments, parent teacher conferences, and verbal interactions.
